Program 2019

Within its 9th edition, Piano Extravaganza Festival will present seven piano recitals, two chamber music concerts, one jazz concert and the traditional “Open doors day”. We hope that our extraordinary artists and the variety of the repertoire for those 12 events would satisfy even the most sophisticated connoisseur. We would be delighted to welcome you at the wonderful venues of the Sofia University’s Aula, the “Bulgaria” Chamber and Symphonic Halls in Sofia!

 
CONCERTS AT THE CHAMBER HALL BULGARIA:

September 28, 2019, 19.30 h.: Opening concert of the Festival – chamber music evening with Liviu Holender, baritone (Austria) and Matthias Fletzberger, piano (Austria). Collaboration with the Embassy of Austria.

October 2, 2019, 19.30 h.: Cycle “Succession – Teachers and Students” – recital of Prof. Milena Mollova, piano (Bulgaria). Collaboration with New Bulgarian University.

October 4, 2019, 19.30 h.: Cycle “Succession – Teachers and Students” – recital of students of Prof. Milena Mollova and Prof. Vincenzo Balzani. Collaboration with New Bulgarian University.

October 5, 2019, 19.30 h.: Cycle “Succession – Teachers and Students” – recital of Prof. Vincenzo Balzani, piano (Italy). Collaboration with New Bulgarian University and the Italian Institute.

 
CONCERTS AT SOFIA UNIVERSITY’S AULA:

October 8, 2019, 19.30 h.: Piano recital of Hugues Leclère, (France).

October 9, 2019, 19.30 h.: Piano recital of Artur Pizzaro (Portugal). Collaboration with the Institute Camoes.

October 11, 2019, 19.30 h.: Piano recital of Luis Fernando Pérez, (Spain). Collaboration with the Embassy of Spain.

October 12, 2019, 19.30 h.: “Young talents” – Piano recital of Emanuil Ivanov, (Bulgaria).

October 13, 2019, from 10.00 to 19.00 h.: “Open doors day” – free entrance for children and adults, with a program of piano classes, talks about music, piano and education. As well, the unique opportunity for all music lovers to have a close look at the new Concert Grand YAMAHA CFX Piano and to enjoy performances of young talented pianists. The event is supported by “Virtuoso Piano Society”.

 
CONCERTS AT THE SYMPHONIC HALL BULGARIA, IN COLLABORATION WITH SOFIA PHILHARMONIC:

October 29, 2019, 19.30 h.: Jazz Concert – solo recital of Chucho Valdés, piano (Cuba/Spain).

November 23, 2019, 19.30 h.: Closing concert of the Festival – chamber music concert of Svetlin Roussev, violin (Bulgaria) and Evgeni Bozhanov, piano (Bulgaria).
